What we do

Our work takes two broad dimensions which are mutually reinforcing. On one hand, we support actions that directly increase livelihood choices of the majority poor and on the other hand, we support strategic initiatives that scale up mutually beneficial relationships and cooperation among the actors in the region for more effective results.

Actions that directly increase livelihood choices include:

  1. Small holder farmer capacity enhancement (i.e. skills training/mentoring, seed grants and savings and credit systems)
  2. Micro business development support for very poor individual households
  3. Strategic objectives
  4. In depth researches with the view of improving internal programming and supporting wider debates on policy reform and topical issues relevant to ordinary citizens at local and national levels.
  5. Making useful and relevant information accessible to millions of people through print and electronic media
  6. Support the leadership in region to act more concertedly on the regional opportunities for growth as well as the challenges.
  7. Support actions that promote accountable leadership and good governance as a pre-requisite to sustainable development
