The micro business development program is designed to provide an alternative path way to income other than agriculture for individuals/households where agriculture offers limited chances of a quick jump because of vast structural bottlenecks. After futile attempts to integrate the very poor in active farmer groups, it became apparent that this category of people needed an intervention directed to their unique conditions which often were holding them back from actively participating in farmer groups. The program helps to build micro business ideas which these individuals pursue with rigorous follow up and later are enabled to work more productively in a larger group. To date, KRC has supported and engaged over 500 very poor individuals in micro business development processes and watched them grow virtually from nothing to household assets which they didn’t have before.
